About the Author Sergio Aragonés is said to be the fastest cartoonist in the world today. He is certainly the most honored, having won every major award in the field, including the National Cartoonists Society's Reuben Award, and the Will Eisner Hall of Fame Award. He was born in 1937 in Castellon, Spain but his family soon relocated to Mexico during the Spanish Civil War. In Mexico, Sergio studyied Architecture at the University of Mexico, and learned pantomime under the direction of Alexandro Jodorowsky. Sergio's first contribution -- "A Mad Look at the U.S. Space Effort" -- appeared in Mad #76, cover-dated January of 1963. For that same issue, he also contributed the cover gag (the first of many) and his first "Marginal Thinking" cartoons to be printed in the magazine's margins. He has since appeared in every issue of Mad except for one (the post office screwed up) and has done thousands of his unique pantomime cartoons. He also produced 16 best-selling original Mad paperback books. Sergio teamed with wordsmith Mark Evanier to bring forth the adventures of Groo the Wanderer. Groo quickly became one of the longest-running "creator-owned" comic book properties, outlasting many of the companies that published it. Sergio and Mark have also produced other comics, including Fanboy, Boogeyman, Magnor, Blair Witch? and an acclaimed series in which together, they trash famous characters: Sergio Aragonés Massacres Marvel, Sergio Aragonés Destroys DC, and Sergio Aragonés Stomps Star Wars. My kid loves it.Some characters, it is not easy to follow the directions, I have to spend time to help him understand.Some characters require you to cut into the paper, like Pikachu, if you didn't pay attention, you will end up ruin your origami.I ended up had to tape the cut off pieces together and went through it my kid.So the book might be challenge for some younger kids and even adults.And it is almost a must that it requires parent's participation.However, it is a good bonding time between me and my kid and I really believe it will be a good boding time for you and your kid as well.

So far we've only done Pikachu, which is the easiest Pokemon in the book (the book arranges the projects in order from easy to hard), and it was hard. The book cover says it's for ages 6+, but my 8.5yo struggled a lot and there were 2-3 spots *I* had serious trouble figuring out what to do. The only way this book is appropriate for a 6yo is if the 6yo has been an origami fanatic for quite a while.You're going to need scissors, tape, and glue for some/most of the projects.

My seven year old son loves Origami and loves Pokemon, so he loved this book! He was able to follow the instructions and make some of the characters. Some he thought were too difficult for him at this time, but that gives him something to work towards!

This is fun - although, like all origami in my opinion, there is no such things as "easy origami" and these Pokemon pages are no exception. The instructions are thorough but can be loosely interpreted and can at times be frustrating (but this is no different than any other origami book I've attempted, lol, so maybe it's just not my thing - either way, it has been a fun, at time frustrating but totally worthwhile activity)

These are fun to make and very cute when done! Instructions are very easy to follow. All you need is the book and a pair of scissors. However, it is Origami, so it could be quite frustrating if attempting to do with any children who haven't yet mastered cutting straight lines or folding straight lines. But I highly recommend otherwise.

I didn't realize that in the bak it comes with the paper to make them out of. I will be buying this again for other Pokemon lovers. well work it and good quality .

I bought this for my boyfriend's sister (9 years old) and she loves pokemon. She also loves crafting things so this book was perfect for her. The directions are a little hard without an adult helping, but it's great family time! It comes with some origami paper in the back of the book already so you can use it right away!

Purchased this for my Pokémon-obsessed 8 year old. It it much too difficult for him to do alone. I even had trouble following along. The directions are confusing and hard to follow.

Stefan Hildebrandt is known for his work on the calculus of variations and minimal surfaces. He has held faculty positions both in the U. S. and in Europe, and he is currently Professor of Mathematics at the University of Bonn.
